Dear Spirit of Edmonton Fans
This letter is coming to you in a time of historical changes within the Spirit of Edmonton Committee. The Spirit of Edmonton family that you have known for many years is changing and evolving. As many of you know Bruce Keltie has been our Chairman for over 10 years and has been our matriarch since 1984. Bruce has retired as Chairman of the Spirit of Edmonton in early 2011 and I have been elected by our committee as your Chairman. Bruce will always be apart of the Spirit of Edmonton family and a valuable resource to myself and others on the committee in our transition period. The mantra held by our beloved Esks, once and Eskimos always an Eskimo is indeed one that we adhere to and is definitely applicable to our love of Bruce.
Over the last year we have been directing our marketing attention to providing our valued fans and sponsors with up to date information our plans for the future. This has been developed and accomplished by three major technology advancements and improvements. We have changed the outlook of our web site prior to Grey Cup 2010 and in addition we have adopted social network tools such as facebook and twitter with great success. Our facebook fan page grew exponentially from ground zero to over 700 fans in a matter of weeks. Twitter has also been an integral communication tool for the Spirit of Edmonton during our event last year. We were able to communicate to our followers instantly as to who was performing on stage and how long our line-ups REALLY were and as a result, you the fan spent less time assuming and new the facts, before anyone else. Our facebook fans were advised of our Hotel location for Grey Cup 2011 Vancouver before it was released to the media. This will undoubtedly help you our "fans" to plan earlier to be part of our great event and quickly respond to your requests or questions.
Please accept my personal invitation to follow us on facebook and twitter so that you, the fan of the Spirit of Edmonton will be current on all the latest news and events the Spirit has in store for the coming year. Our web site will also feature "letters" from the chair on a quarterly basis that will inform you and address our plans for Grey Cup 2011 and beyond.
Sincerely,
Keith Keating, Chairman
